Civic Auditorium – Rental Facilities

Opened in 1940, the Civic Auditorium was designed to be the cornerstone of the Parks and Recreation program in Kingsport and has served that purpose since its creation.  The Parks and Recreation administrative offices along with the athletic office and maintenance staff are housed within the Civic Auditorium.  The history of the Civic Auditorium is rich.  From legendary country and bluegrass musicians to hometown heroes and Elvis, the stage of the Civic Auditorium has showcased the best entertainment. Today, the Civic Auditorium is a common place for meetings, exhibit shows, social events, festival activities and sporting activities.  The facility has multiple rooms of all sizes to rent for functions.  Many of the rooms have themed decor to commemorate Kingsport past and present.

Rental Spaces Available Include:

Main Auditorium 110’ x 70’ flat rubber material floor space with 15’ ceilings.  At one end of the room there is a 21’x 32’ elevated stage with motorized curtains.  The ceiling lights have dimmers.  An outside marquee may be rented to promote events in the Main Auditorium.  Regular rentals are an 8 hour minimum and include tables/chairs at no extra cost.  Exhibit rentals are an 8 hour minimum and additional fees are charged for tables/chairs. Other types of rentals have variable limits and provisions. Maximum Capacity: 800 for theater and concert style events, 500 for table and chair events or dinners, 56 – 8’x10’ exhibit booths. The floor is also striped for recreation level basketball and tennis courts.  Portable basketball goals and tennis net are available.

Meeting Rooms

Conference Room – maximum capacity 75 persons.  39’ x 24’. The Conference Room is carpeted, has a white board/markers and a pull down screen. Tables and chairs are provided.  No food or drink are allowed in the room.

East Room – maximum capacity 80 persons. 36’ x 41’. The East Room has a concrete floor, outside access and restrooms.  Tables and chairs are provided.

FunFest Room – maximum capacity 40 persons. 35’ x 17’. The FunFest Room has a wall mural showcasing the hot air balloon event during the summer festival.  Posters and memorabilia from past FunFests are also displayed in the room.  Tables and chairs are provided.

History Room – maximum capacity 35 persons. 36’ x 15’. The History Room has a beautiful wall mural, painted by Suzanne Justice, depicting the History of Kingsport.  Tables and chairs are provided.

Room 3 – maximum capacity 20 persons. 23’ x 17’. Tables and chairs are provided.

Room 4 – maximum capacity 10 persons. 11’ x 17’. Tables and chairs are provided.

Rooms 3 & 4 Together – Room 3 and Room 4 are divided by a partition wall which can be opened to allow rental of both rooms together. Maximum capacity of Rooms 3 & 4 combined 40 persons. Tables and chairs are provided.

West Room – maximum capacity 100 persons. 36’ x 41’. The West Room has a sealed concrete floor and is easily accessible to an outside loading ramp. Tables and chairs are provided.

Other The Main Hall and other meeting rooms may be rented together and/or individually. The Civic Auditorium parking lot may be rented for events and activities. Green space adjacent to the Civic Auditorium parking lot may be rented for events and activities.  The green space has electrical connections. Rental hours for the Civic Auditorium vary and the facility is closed on City holidays. Office hours for the Civic Auditorium are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
