Civic Auditorum
Opened in 1940, the Civic Auditorium was designed to be the cornerstone of the Parks and Recreation department in Kingsport. The Civic Auditorium has a rich history. From legendary country and bluegrass musicians to hometown heroes and Elvis, the stage of the Civic Auditorium has showcased many entertainers and shows. Many of the rooms have themed décor to commemorate Kingsport past and present.
Today, the Civic Auditorium is managed by the Kingsport City School System for various educational, recreational, and community needs.
The Civic Auditorium is a multi dimensional facility with rental space suitable for exhibits, concerts, trade shows, family gatherings, and seminars.
Facility Amenities:
- An 110’ x 70’ auditorium with flat rubber material floor space with 15’ ceilings
- Paved parking lots
- Ceiling lights with dimmers
- An outside marquee may be rented to promote events at the Civic Auditorium
- Exhibit rentals are an 8 hour minimum and additional fees are charged for tables/chairs. Other types of rentals have variable limits and provisions.
- Maximum Capacity: 800 for theater and concert style events, 500 for table and chair events or dinners, 56 – 8’x10’ exhibit booths. The floor is also striped for recreation level basketball. Portable basketball goals are available for tournaments, sports leagues, and similar events.

Is rental space available at the Civic Auditorium for parties, meetings, receptions, weddings, etc.?
The Main Hall at the Civic Auditorium can be rented for events. Cost varies based on type of event. Rental requests can be made by calling 423-378-2100.
Is the Civic Auditorium a polling location during Early Voting and Election Day?
Any registered Sullivan County voter may vote at the Civic Auditorium during Early Voting regardless of assigned voting location; however, on Election Day you must vote at your assigned voting location.
